Avaya sold off to Ring Central?
Avaya sold off to Ring Central?
(OP)
I read an article that mentioned that Avaya was discontinuing the IPO and will sell off to Ring Central.
Does anyone have any info if this is a rumor or fact?

I've certainly not heard anything.
Lots of people have put 2 and 2 together on this subject, but Avaya say different when directly questioned on the subject.

Avaya Cloud Office by Ring Central (ACO) has subsequently replaced IPO Server Edition in a growing list of countries.

3 years I believe, so things should be happening around this during this year.

Avaya would sell their own mother if they make a buck.
We still sell IPO's to customers because not all customers want cloud and the ones that had a phone system for years without issues and didn't pay monthly until they stop using phones are after that because in the long run it is cheaper. More work and the responsibility is yours to maintain and fix it ergo the cost is less.

I am curious if Ring will payout Avaya again to extend the partnership (that's why I was asking if/was there was a duration). If the Avaya/RingCentral agreement ends, is the partnership over and no more ACO? Would the SMB focus for Avaya go back to being on IP Office (hopefully)?
IMO, I think Avaya did this deal back then to get the cash and pay off more debt and hope RingCentral buys them outright eventually, but who knows what they are doing.
RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?
In the mean time they have woken up and we sell a lot of our own hosted platform. Less immediate money or better investments in infrastructure and setup cost but at least the customers are with us, they pay less per month and we control it not some faceless board or directors in a dark room somewhere sipping on champagne thinking on how to get more money out of the BP's
Seems my bias against the Avaya upper management shines right through my words.

So no idea what the long term plan is, and it's entirely likely that no one with an Avaya business card does either.

When VOIP can say up as long as traditional telco I'll be convinced it's superior.
Hope Avaya does not end up like Nortel.

I installed this in 2019. I can count on one hand the number of calls I've had for voice issues.
It updates itself, the phones are great, mobility is excellent.

11.2 is slated for GA in September.
Avaya IP Office is also being made available as an ATA for Avaya Cloud Office, allowing all those analog devices be used on the cloud platform as well.
Anyone that is saying IP Office is going away (3CX Sales people), is likely just trying to spread FUD because they want to sell a competing platform and cannot compete toe to toe with Avaya IP Office.
Instead they attempt to "scare" customers away by spreading Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.
Very bad, and dishonest sales strategy.

There are manual instruction for 11.1, and auto configuration coming in 11.2
You can find the instructions in the IP Office documentation.
