Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

(OP)
I read an article that mentioned that Avaya was discontinuing the IPO and will sell off to Ring Central.

Does anyone have any info if this is a rumor or fact?

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Can you post this article?

I've certainly not heard anything.

Lots of people have put 2 and 2 together on this subject, but Avaya say different when directly questioned on the subject.

This is the old partnership announcement between the two companies.

Avaya Cloud Office by Ring Central (ACO) has subsequently replaced IPO Server Edition in a growing list of countries.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Just out of curiosity, what/was there a duration of this agreement? Was it ever announced "X amount of years" until both parties have to agree/renegotiate again?

When a catastrophic disruption of the Internet occurs what happens to all these cloud based telephone networks?

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

What do you mean #Jamie77, the last release for the IPO before discontinuing?

To be clear, that is not what I meant.

R11.2 is due in September, the last time I was given a time scale.

3 years I believe, so things should be happening around this during this year.

I am pretty sure they continue it if it is profitable.
Avaya would sell their own mother if they make a buck.

We still sell IPO's to customers because not all customers want cloud and the ones that had a phone system for years without issues and didn't pay monthly until they stop using phones are after that because in the long run it is cheaper. More work and the responsibility is yours to maintain and fix it ergo the cost is less.

Cloud seems to be to unreliable and vulnerable.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

@Westi, I agree but I am curious if enough of these customers are migrating to ACO and if it is profitable for RingCentral since they gave Avaya $500 Million for this agreement when it first happened.

I am curious if Ring will payout Avaya again to extend the partnership (that's why I was asking if/was there was a duration). If the Avaya/RingCentral agreement ends, is the partnership over and no more ACO? Would the SMB focus for Avaya go back to being on IP Office (hopefully)?

IMO, I think Avaya did this deal back then to get the cash and pay off more debt and hope RingCentral buys them outright eventually, but who knows what they are doing.

We have put a lot of customers on the ACO and I was against it from the beginning but sales people only saw the immediate money coming down the pipe but missed that there is no more revenue following once the customer is setup and gone.
In the mean time they have woken up and we sell a lot of our own hosted platform. Less immediate money or better investments in infrastructure and setup cost but at least the customers are with us, they pay less per month and we control it not some faceless board or directors in a dark room somewhere sipping on champagne thinking on how to get more money out of the BP's
Seems my bias against the Avaya upper management shines right through my words.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

@AvayaRed Some of the reading I've done on the deal that was done at the time did make it come across the way you describe, Avaya did the deal for a cash injection, containerised was actually a really good product and they buried it to do this deal (unless I've gone 2+2=5).

So no idea what the long term plan is, and it's entirely likely that no one with an Avaya business card does either.

Give me a good old reliable PRI (which is still available) or POTS with Five-Nines anytime over VOIP aka PITA.

When VOIP can say up as long as traditional telco I'll be convinced it's superior.

Hope Avaya does not end up like Nortel.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

These are the calls for a customer of ours using 100% cloud hosted 3CX and SIP trunks.

I installed this in 2019. I can count on one hand the number of calls I've had for voice issues.

It updates itself, the phones are great, mobility is excellent.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Yeah still like working on 3CX. Nice design, decent features, everything works first time.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

+1 for 3CX, can be on premise or cloud, can be sold via seat based pricing or included in a lease even with SIP telecom services. 10x easier to support and setup. I'm amazed of how many less support calls we get than a IP Office, just more user intuitive.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Avaya IP Office is not going anywhere.
11.2 is slated for GA in September.

Avaya IP Office is also being made available as an ATA for Avaya Cloud Office, allowing all those analog devices be used on the cloud platform as well.

Anyone that is saying IP Office is going away (3CX Sales people), is likely just trying to spread FUD because they want to sell a competing platform and cannot compete toe to toe with Avaya IP Office.

Instead they attempt to "scare" customers away by spreading Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.
Very bad, and dishonest sales strategy.

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

@Travis Harper, when is the GA for the IPv500 to hang off of ACO ATA? I have heard this bring a goal since the inception of ACO but have not seen a GA date yet. Being able to repurpose the IPv500 and those analog devices would be very cost effective for customer rather than buying new ATAs. Is there a specific/minimum version the IPv500 has to be on to be supported for ACO integration?

RE: Avaya sold off to Ring Central?

Thanks for sending this, looks like hot off the presses as well. So customer needs to be upgrade to R11.1.2 if not already and they can provision it to their ACO tenant.

I got some good reading for tonight, again thanks for sending this.
