I haven't touched one of those in a long time, but if you go through the admin menu on the phone you should be able to find the radio (or maybe WLAN) menu and enable the appropriate radio (802.11a or b/g) and sub bands. In North America, the regulatory domain is 01, that may be different depending where you are in the world.

Check page 35 of the below under the 801.11 config. The Spectralink 8020/8030 are virtually the same as the 61XX series. I purged my 61XX series docs a few years back.
