Inband DTMF to SIP device for zone paging

Inband DTMF to SIP device for zone paging

Inband DTMF to SIP device for zone paging

(OP)
Hey all.

First things first, I'm not a Cisco tech. I have a customer with an old Nortel MICS that a 3rd party is pulling out and replacing with a multi-site Call Manager. I have an Algo 8180 SIP Alerter that I'm trying to use for a paging interface to their zone paging system.

The 8180 is connected to the CM, I can call it and page through it with just the internal speaker working. But I can't send inband DTMF audio from a phone to select which paging zone I want.

I'm an Avaya IP Office tech. When I install one of these 8180 device on an IPO, I set the VoIP extension to send DTMF inband instead of through the SIP signalling. Is there any such setting under the extension for the Cisco CM? The Cisco tech I'm working with (remotely) can't see anything.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Inband DTMF to SIP device for zone paging

I'm not a Cisco tech either, but I've installed a few 8180's, but not using zones. Are you using multiple Algo 8180's? It's possible to set each 8180 to have it's own SIP extension. They add a lot of features with every firmware update, so make sure they're up to date as well. Algo support may be of help too.
