External calls cannot be forwarded to external phone number.

External calls cannot be forwarded to external phone number.

External calls cannot be forwarded to external phone number.

This one has been perplexing me for a few days now. I will also preface this by saying I inherited this system and am trying to learn as much telephony as I can over these past few days.

I set up one of our phone sets to forward calls to an external number. If I call the set's number with another internal phone line, it forwards to my cell phone, no issue. But if I try to call the set's number from another external number (like another cell phone), it doesn't even ring on the caller's end and doesn't get forwarded. The only indication that anyone called is that it shows up in the call logs on the phone set. Just to add to that, if I cancel the forward while trying to call the phone set, it will begin to ring as normal. Redirection is enabled on the set.

Any ideas?

Go into programming and head for lines, then look for Target lines and see if any of them were assigned to your extension.

I'm hoping I'm in the right menu. After logging in to the admin section on one of the phones, I see "Terminals & Sets" and then "Lines". In lines, there are 284 different lines.

Most just say:

Line XXX:Line XXX>

Though some say an extension like:

Line157:5706>

None of these match the extension that I am looking for (5896)

I think you are in the right area. On some Norstar, the Target lines started at 157 onwards. I have attached a guide and I think page 58 would be a starting point.

It's more difficult assigning them via a terminal as you only have a limited screen. If you had any remote access, then it would be much easier.

Thank you very much! I'll start reading through this when I can. Out of curiosity, I do have access to a menu via the browser (see attached). I'm not sure if things can be administered here or if this is for a separate part of the system.

That screen shot looks to be for your Call Pilot system.

Make sure yout lines are set to super under lines/ trunk line data. If they are unsupervised it won't allow an external call to be forwarded. Is this a PRI or analog lines?
