Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
Hello,

I have recently acquired an Option 11C running Succession 3.0 and am playing with it in my "home lab" (so I'm a Meridian 1 newbie). I have a few POTS trunks that I'm configuring and I have the trunks and routes configured and things work. However, when seizing a trunk via the assigned ACOD, I notice there is a timer period where the PBX is absorbing and spitting out the dialed digits. I'm not sure if this is a supervision timeout or what to call it exactly. However, during this period, there is no call counter, I cannot hear DTMF (I have end to end signalling enabled), and I cannot dial * or #. Once this timeout period expires, the call counter starts, end-to-end signalling works, and I can then dial * and #.

Is it possible to shrink and/or disable this timeout period? Ideally, what I'd like is as soon as the assigned ACOD is dialed, the set be dumped to an available trunk and at that point the system "steps out of the way" so to speak.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks!

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

Check that your analogue trunks are set to loop calling. Also check that you are on the correct pair of wires.

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

also is the COT card you have for your country depending where you sourced it?

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
Firebord Scrambler. I'm pretty sure the correct pair(s) are being used since I get dialtone and can dial out. It's just this initial timer after seizing the trunk that I'm trying to disable and or shorten. The reason being is that I'd like to be able to dial vertical service codes without having to wait a minute for the timer to expire. Perhaps if I do a quick video to demonstrate what I'm talking about it might make some sense.

bignose21 - I'm located in the US and am using a NT8D14BB Universal Analog Trunk Release 7 line card. Should be correct.

For reference, here is the trunk and route config:

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

I have a typical UK Analogue Trunk Earth Calling setup below that works fine.

There is a Loop Calling example attached for you that will be more suitable.

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
Awesome, thanks. I was going to cotinue to troubleshoot my inability to view/download the file but got side tracked.

Just to confirm, with the configuration above, when one dials ACOD 1519, the call timer starts and all DTMF can be dialed, including * and #? Assuming the station's CLS is configured to allow such.

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

In the example I gave ir can dial out DTMF as
CLS = UNR DTN WTA LPR APN

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
I already have that set. I think I'm not describing the scenario correctly.

I can dial out just fine, the trunks work. However, here in the US there are vertical service codes that start with * that I use from time to time. I figured out what I'm battling is the end of dial (EOD) timer. Until that timer expires, the M1 absorbs the * key and does not outpulse it. I lowered the EOD timer on the route to the minimum it'll allow (128ms), however the EOD timer 'clock' doesn't start until at least 1 digit is dialed (which makes sense).

I figured out a workaround but with a caveat. If I dial the assigned ACOD, then press #, this immediately ends the EOD timer. However, when the EOD timer is terminated, the digits are no longer collected in the redial log of the station (in this case an M3904). A minor detail, but perhaps there may be a setting to tweak to fix this?

Under LD 15 > CDR_DATA I set ECDR to YES (End-to-End Signaling digits in CDR record) thinking this might have an effect, but it doesn't appear to.

Hmm!

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

You might try replacing * with 11. Meant for rotary phones to use * services but I think it will also work with DTMF.

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
StanleySteamer - Yes, that works. However, if I can configure it in such a way to allow me to dial * I'd like to. If it can't be done, it can't be done, but I want to at least give it a good effort. big smile

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

Try changing MANO to YES in the RDB

RE: Option 11C - COT via ACOD Question

(OP)
KCFLHRC - That seems to disable the end-of-dial timer! You can't be super quick about dialing though, gotta dial the ACOD then pause for a moment, then continue dialing for it to not absorb the *. The consequence is the digits are not stored in the stations redial list (as I expected), but that may just have to be how it is.
