BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

Need help in setting up/programming a Nortel BSE50 POE switch for our VOIP phones (1140). BCM50 is fully programmed just need to get the BSE50 going.
I have the installation guide for the BSE50 but I’m not an IT guy and it’s Way BEYOND ME!!! Help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Need 15 ports of POE. Thanks Chris

RE: BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

It should just be a case of plugging in an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the BCM 50 into the POE switch and then plugging the the IP phones into the POE switch.

RE: BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

Are you under the assumption that you must use a BES50 to use IP sets?
Do you require the features of the BES50? what are the details?

The BES50 is a managed switch, IT professionals would be best suited to help with this perhaps as they work with managed switches of all makes, that is if you really need to use it's features.

If you just want the BCM50 to handle the programming then as Firebird states it should be plug and play except that you might need to change the IP address/sub settings and the DHCP on or off.
You can use any POE switch if its just a basic install.

RE: BCM50 Programming a BSE50 POE Switch

Yes that is it, I have the only 2 models myself:

BES50FE-12T - 12 port , all 12 ports are POE
BES50FE-24T - 24 port, only 12 ports are POE

Power cable is 4 Pin - 48v 2.7A

Couple more programming tips:
-Must Enable POE on the ports
-Make the ports that use Voice (IP sets) as priority
