i have bcm400 version 4.0.02.3 hdd off ,problem motherboard
i havec backup whith software Business Communications Manager BCM
if i can insttal a nother hdd ? my old hdd seagate ST380215A BARACUDA 7200 80GB

What you can do is to connect up via a serial port at 9600 baud with a null modem adapter. It's possible to recover some bad sectors at the command line prompt.

The trouble is that most computers don't come with a serial port, but USB ones work OK.

Failing that I should have a Acronis copy that should work. Contact me off line.
