VLAN Query

VLAN Query

VLAN Query

(OP)
Hi we have three sites using CM/SM 8.1 and vantage/J series set. These three sites have three different VLAN. The phones are installed at these three sites. My query is that can we built a single file server and can i define three different VLAN for each site in 4xxsettings?? or i have to create three file server along with 4xxsettings for each VLAN??? We requested the admin to tag VLAN for each site phone but they are refusing. What is the best possible solution in this case??

RE: VLAN Query

Use a single settings file with IF $GROUPS comparisons to set the VLAN. Set the group in SMGR.

Can you please briefly??

Hi Pal,
Actually the site IT peoples plainly refused to do changes or setting in their DHCP, i am not sure what is LLDP. I have to do things at my end.
Can you help please?

RE: VLAN Query

If they are refusing to change DHCP settings, and LLDP won't do it then you have to statically assign everything to every telephone (esp file server). Not supporting DHCP or LLDP would make me question why the business won't support the telephone system, esp if best practice was followed (voice on it's own VLAN).

You are right, i agree.
Can you please briefly elaborate how can i use IF $GROUPS in a single 4xxsttings file to assign different VLAN to different IP phones model.

This. What other settings will they not change when needed?

Is it possible that they may not know how? Can you find out what their objection is?

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

I am not sure but they are saying that we cannot change a running network configuration as it is a very large CC environment.

Let me talk with customer again. Mean time can you please point a doc or elaborate "IF $GROUPS" command as suggested above?

Does somebody have sample LLDP configuration for the Avaya J series phone?? The network team never used LLDP and need our help or recommendation to setup LLDP.
