RES 3700 Rebuild Error Renaming Database

RES 3700 Rebuild Error Renaming Database

(OP)
I am trying to run a database rebuild on a RES 3700 database v5.2 that keeps failing while completing the rebuild. In Database Manager I get an "Error renaming database file" and a dialog box popup that says I/O error renaming file. The Database Manager then just sits there with the green light flashing next to the run button and all options in the UI still greyed-out.

Additionally, when my nightly database backup runs it produces a .BAD file. However if I run a database backup manually it completes with a valid database backup and no issues at all. I am attempting to run the rebuild to correct this issue and have run into the renaming error issue.

Our database is currently about 580MB and the MICROSNEW database builds to about 320MB. If I am understanding the rebuild process correctly I feel this may be normal as we have had to close for a few months, reduce hours/days, and are at significantly less volume over the past 7 months. So, there would certainly be much less transaction/sales data stored in the database currently.

Any thoughts on the Error renaming database file?

Thank you!

Do you have an antivirus running?
If so, disable it temporarily during the rebuild. It should also exclude the micros database directory during normal running.
