CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

(OP)
Hey There guys, i have a CICS with no V.mail installed ,, the recept. has a night service button , with a M7100 set in the Grp.2 with 221 ,, it has the small Bell output from back of 7100 to input of amp. and has worked for several yrs.,, but recently the M7100 died and it stopped working but did realized it right away ,the display stilled worked but ,,so i must have changed some programming or ports, anyways put in another M7100 , but can't get it to work the way i originally had it ,, the m7100 lines were set to Appear with no ringing,, if i turn the line ringing it works so i know the phone and port works ,, So how did i get a set that doesn't ring
work in night service manual mode . I believe there was a Tek- tip thread that showed how. Any Tips would be great.Thks

..yes i did turn on aux. ringer on phone ,, i guess thats how the non -ringing phone would ring.

Confused...
Are you having an issue with getting the phone to ring with the amp?
Can we forgot all the service mode stuff you speak of? or is your issue the phone works with the amp but not when in night mode?

What is the actual setup with your site?
There must be a reason your not using the page port on the norstar?

"to input of amp"
What inputs on the amp? Aux Ringer I hope.

I have always accomplished this using a ringer.
In the case of using an Algo Ringer (duet plus) it needs to be no more than 15 feet away from the phone due to impedance, if you need it further you would then tap in a speaker/horn to the Algo's inputs and disable the ringer on the Algo itself in favour of speaker/horn.

Or you could tap the Algo ringer to an Amplifier but I have never had to do that either.

ya it is confusing,, i did it this way because it was cheap and worked.. amp is small Toa , the input is called program and has separate vol. ,i or 2 horns work for paging,, the M7100 was bad and replaced , but it is set for Line appearance only, and has 1 cable from back of set called bell to toa program input, when reception is not at desk ,the night service button is turned on and ring paging horns,, because i had muck with programming , i thought maybe i had missed something ,, to test the set up i turned on line ringing at m7100 x34 and it rings all the time which is what they don't want. Hope that clears the mud a bit. Thks

RE: CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

Thanks dude
I be still curious why you are not using the AUX Ringer port on the CICS though.

Ok it sounds like the set, amp and speaker all work fine then so that leaves "service modes" then.

Verify these Night Service settings:
-Verify the DN on the 7100 in case it changed
-In Service Modes/Ring Group 002 make sure that DN is listed (and remove 221 if it's not needed)
-In Service Modes/Night/Service make sure it's set to Manual
-In Service Modes/Night/Trunk Answer is set to Y
-In Service Modes/LineSettings make sure the required lines are set to Ring Group 2.

"yes i did turn on aux. ringer on phone"
I do not thing that applies in this case.
I think that is only to tell the AUX Ring Port on the amphenol cable to trip the amps relay.

Okay most of what u mentioned is done , i can take 21 out of grp.2 , i may have to check line settings.

CICs aux, ring port - i don't remember ever using it,, does it get programmed ,, and connected to amp input?? or does it require xtra parts, ? Thks

RE: CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

The CICS Aux port does not get programmed itself, just the sets, lines, HG etc that have the Aux Ring Yes or No option will activate it.
Cross-connect the AUX Ringer port of the CICS to the amplifier's Aux Ringer Port, if this TOA has one.
It is the phone system that trips it and the amp that generates the ring tone, if the amp does not provide then you need the ring generator like the algo to intercept between the two.

I only use Bogen so I do not know TOA, quick glance says they are not realy into paging amps for phone systems.

Bogen and Viking or more geared for telephone systems, and wall mountable out of the box which makes them shallow to wall and not having to build a shelf....turning green now.

Maybe this is why the 7100 is MacGyvered because of the TOA.

"Ok it sounds like the set, amp and speaker all work fine then so that leaves "service modes" then."
Maybe I jumped the gun because it is still not clear to me.
Does the phone itself ring when in night mode?
If so then the issue is hardware between the phone and the amp.

Does the phone itself ring when in night mode? Not that i remember , thats the part that confuses me , how did i make the phone ring so the output has a ring from the m7100 bell output? I know there was a thread on how i did this ,but i can't find it.

RE: CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

The Bell jack rings when the phone rings any any type of call.

Is the phone used as a phone or is it dedicated to the amp?

Are you sure there is no Algo between the 7100 and the Amp?, perhaps in the ceiling above the phone then to the amp?

You first need to make sure that the phone ring as normal when in night mode, once you confirm that then you start to look at the Bell port or other.
Start with connecting your linesman test set to the Bell port to see if you hear ringing when the phone is called.

I didn't test intercom calls,,when i turn on m7100 lines appear and ring they do,, but it can only ring when in night service,, when the bell output is connected can the phone not detect and pass the ringing ?? I defintely don't have any algo or anything else involved ,i will have to confirm programming first. I do have a Norelco NTL 800 in stock.

"Is the phone used as a phone or is it dedicated to the amp?"

"when the bell output is connected can the phone not detect and pass the ringing"
When phone rings so does the Bell port.

"when i turn on m7100 lines appear and ring they do"
We dont care, not related!!!

" but it can only ring when in night service,"
I think we know that already and what we are trying to troubleshoot.

I thinks it best you go back to site and do more troubleshooting, I cant add anymore at this point.

Sorry, I forgot to address that...I was actually just there for a pickup.
I would try to fix how you had it first but that is a nifty piece of equipment for that price vs the Algo.

Thought of more...check the signal all the way to the end of the cross-connect at the amp but also test the amp with your toner.

I tested signal thru system is good.. I believe i have to look at the 001 and 002 grps. Line settings & DN's . The m7100 x34 is dedicated for ring page. I think i may have X34 in 2 grps. Not sure if that is allowed , but would explain why it would ring all time instead of just night time.

Durham/Kawartha ,Ont.

RE: CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

Yes, a DN can be in multiple groups, that is why you might notice by default 221 (or lowest DN) is there by default in every group.
If only 34 is to ring at night then yes have it in it's own group by itself and remove it from any other groups.

Since the set is dedicated also make sure it has no Answer DN's or is in any hunt groups.

All Fixed,, I must have been bit fried when trying to trouble shoot system ,didn't realize the M7100 which had a display ,was bad and effected the page amp and ringing. i must of made some grp changes but ,i thought the night ring was grp.2 it was grp.1 ,, any ways the cool thing is the M7100 has to have its lines set to Appear for it to working right not ring . Thks ))))) upsidedown

RE: CICS with Night Ringing & paging AMP. /M7100

"must have been bit fried"
Well it's legal now

So you are saying the set needs to have a line "Appear Only" even thought it's in a Ring Group.
That is truly odd, which mean "not cool" lol.... but glad it works!!.
