Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

(OP)
Hi everyone
I want to connect Mitel PABX extensions with cell phones. What do I need to do for that purpose?
Thanks

RE: Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

We use External Hot Desk Licenses for our Agents working from Home - It was the simplest solution and just uses the Agent ID to point to an external device.

Depending upon what set up you have there are so many options - for example Mobile Twinning or the Micollab Softphone/App etc

Cheers

Rich

Thank you. What is the best option (configuration) to achieve my goal?

RE: Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

What system are you running?

I have a Mitel 3300 PABX connected with an Asterisk system

RE: Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

I am not too sure on the Asterisk sorry

Personally I found the External Hot Desking to be easiest to set up via the MICC/MiVB

RE: Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

Mitel licensing is not the best, can be quite confusing.
I will try and break it down for you.

You need either a multi-device license or an IP user license and a EHDU license.
A Multi-Device license is a bundle license of IP user license and a EHDU license.

If you are using a multi-device license -
1) Create you extension with Service level multi-device
2) Enable Hotdesk and External Hotdesking , add in your mobile (cell) number , also add in outbound prefix
2) Create a Multi-device Group and add extension into here
3) Assign appropriate CoS (Permanent EHDU enabled)

For IP user license and a EHDU license

1) Create you extension with Service level Full
2) Enable Hotdesk and External Hotdesking , add in your mobile (cell) number , also add in outbound prefix
3) Assign appropriate CoS (Permanent EHDU enabled)

Assign extension to a DID, call DID
usually External Hot Desk will register after you give it a call.

Best of luck

RE: Connecting Mitel pabx extensions with cell phones

In addition to the 2 options Valamagules mentions there is a third Hybrid solution

Requirements:
You have a Desk phone using a Full License
You want the desk phone and a Cell phone to ring at the same time
You have a spare external hotdesk license

You setup the external hotdesk for the Cell phone but specify Multi-device type (even if you don't have one)
You create a Multidevice Group using the desktop station as the extension (will convert license on desk phone to Multidevice but use the full licence)
The Mutidevice Group needs to be defined as an external twin type
Add the External hotdesk to the group
Bob's your uncle

FYI, I've used this method dozens of times to free up IP User licenses that were set up the traditional way.
