Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

(OP)
Can't seem to get this to work no matter what I try.

System in PBX\Hybrid Mode
Have tried lines in a pool, and not
FRL, Restriction, and Disallow list setting are correct.
VM ports set to rotary correctly.
Tried programming the line on the VM port and not.
2 Port system, but not in production at the moment, all the above tested without active calls preventing the port from dialing out.
Have tried numerous combinations of pauses at the beginning of the dial string with no success.

It appears that the port keeps continually picking up the line and attempting to dial out. I can see the port blinking as active, and the line light going on and off,
but I'm not getting the call to my cell phone. I turned out calling off, and the port is still grabbing, and dropping the line, and picking it up again, time after time. This also
continues after a reboot. I'm starting to believe that the VM has perhaps gone bad.

I have run out of ideas.. any help would be appreciated!

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Does the outcalling number include 9 as the first digit? Maybe even 9* or 9**

Do you have reliable disconnect on the lines?

You said above, but confirm that the VM ports are UNrectricted, FRL=3, no disallow lists assigned

Have you every used Monitor? If you know your way in, you can Trace the VM extension and see what it is dialing. Remember the last port is also used for turning the MWI on and off, so you will be seeing activity for that as well

Thanks for the reply Tommy....

yes.. I tried with 9 and a combination of * (when I had the lines in pool 70) I have tried the line in a pool and not. Pretty sure reliable disconnect is on but I will double check. FRL is 3 and I also tried 4. Verified no disallow on any list after removing from 7. I do not know how to use monitor but I'm sure it will help to see what the port is doing.

Yes the last port. the system is not yet production, just programming and setting this up, so there is nothing interfering with out calling.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

You night set the phone status of the test mailbox to No Phone, so that there won't be any MWI activity on the 2nd port, and you can assume what you see is outcalling attempts. Do you see the outside line go off hook when an attempt is made? Pare it down to just one line in pool 70 and put a butt set in Monitor mode on it.

Line will go off, and on hook, and off and on hook... it doesn't stop. Even starts back up after a reboot. I'm pretty sure that I have that mailbox set to no phone because it is a mailbox only, I will verify. I will put a test set in line with the line to monitor. do you suggest that the lines be in a pool? I have tried with the line in a pool, and not in a pool.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

You need a minimum of a 4-port mail to use outcalling. If you are trying to do it with a 2-port that could be the issue.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

scratch that. I'm thinking of call recording that requires 4-port. You should be able to use 2-port.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

I would wait until port 2 is free and leave a message. Watch to see if when port 2 picks up that is also grabs an open line on a phone to make the call. If it does, but the call drops after 1-2 seconds there is probably a restriction on the extension or the line that you have not caught.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Put your outside line in Pool 70, because that'a the pool that is accessed when you dial 9 for ARS

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Have you set the ARS for the MM ports to unrestricted? And the FRL from 0 to 3?

Testing with butt set in line with the one line in the pool and I do not hear the port grabbing the line.

The port is unrestricted, and FRL set to 3... although this is set just on port 2 which should be the only port that matters for out calling.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

The 'second port only' would depend on the hunt group be set to linear. We usually set ours to rotary, but that is a choice.

budbyrd

all documentation shows that only port 2 is used for out calling on a 2 port system. You think I should program port 1 the same as port 2?

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

We typically have always used 4 port systems, but it couldn't hurt.

RE: Merlin Messagning Outcall Notification

Linear and Rotary for the Hunt Group is how calls get TO the voicemail. Port 2 only being used for outcalling is part of the Messaging. Be that as it may, I always set ALL of the VM ports to Unrestricted, FRL=3, Rotary Enabled, RCF and Trunk to Trunk allowed. Stengrad, if you can find me through my web site, I can share how to get into Monitor and see what the ports are doing internally.

I finally got this working. I thought maybe something was up with the slot, so I moved from 3 to 5. Was not able to get VM working at all in slot 5. Tried board renumber, setting the board, etc... moved it back to slot 3 and reprogrammed, and out calling began to work! Now, I can't get night mode to answer immediately. It still rings the amount of time in time based overflow for the Calling Group that I set up for the AA.
