Hi all,

We have many 9608 H323 remote extensions which work fine with our IPO 500 V2.

We recently added a couple more extensions and the audio only works when they receive calls.
When the new handsets try to make a call there is no dial tone, also once the call connects there is no audio.

The UDP port range is open on the remote router - this is where I thought the problem was.


In the System Status program the new extensions looks different to the working ones in one section,
Under H.323 extensions, Avaya IP Phones - the IP address is shown but the 'Private IP Address' box is empty
and
Looking at the detail for an extension, all the working phones show 'Remote Extension Media Behind NAT: True' But for the new extensions this setting shows as False.

I have put the phones in the DMZ at the remote locations and forwarded all the ports to the static IP of the handset.

Any suggestions on what I'm missing here gratefully received!

Remote sites internet provided by UK SKY on an ER115 but the same issue at a remote site with UK BT Hub 6.

have you tried turning off "Allow direct media" under ext tab?

You don't need to open for incoming traffic on the remote site for remote extensions, only outgoing traffic needs to be allowed.

ALG for H.323 and RAS needs to be disabled on the remote routers, this can be called different things depending on the brand.
