IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
Dear expert,

New IPO500v2 setup with factory reset linksys poe switch. The 1608 could not register to Ipo500v2.

Did I miss any setting in Linksys poe switch?

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

not a lot to go on but.. Did you run monitor to get a trace of it trying to register? Does it see the IP Office and try to register? Does it get DHCP and what is giving it an address? Do you see it trying to register to the IP Office?
Mike

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

DHCP config working properly?
Option 242 enabled on DHCP server or DHCP enabled on correct LAN on IPO?

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

do you get a prompt to enter extension number?

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

The Ip Phone did not reach to enter extension after the reboot.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
I tried to use the static IP address for the IP Phone, but still don't register in IPO 500

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
Just count dhcp 1 sec. 2 sec. and turn to press * to program in display after boot up.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

What release of IP Office and What type of 1608 is it? the 1608 or 1608-I.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
Ipo500v2 R11 and 1608i

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
I used the dhcp from IPO 500 LAN1
The ip range is for 20 ip phones.

I checked the ip pbone got the ip address and netmask from ipo500 but just can get filess to upgrade it.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
Actually the ip phone waited for 2 sec. to get the ip address but didn't why it re-started again to wait for dhcp. This action repeated again and again.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Is this a new 1608 phone? possible that your DHCP scope is incorrect as well.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Sounds like the phone gets DHCP information (VLAN INFO most likely) on the native VLAN and restarts on the voice VLAN that doesn't supply addressing or option 242.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
It wasn't look like the dhcp's problem since I tried both dhcp and fix ip and get the same results.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

(OP)
yes, they are new IP Phones from supplier.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Hi Westi,

We did the factory reset in the POE switch and there was not VLAN in it.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Have you tried programming the phone manually? That will help point to the failure if it works. If it doesn't then your problem is more network or possably programming problems in the IPO. Also turn H323 events and signaling on in your monitor trace to see the handshake between the phone and the IPO.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Hi Bu4dbyrd,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Actually I did program manually 4 Ip phones and turn on the H323 in monitor. Nothing showed in monitor for they H323 and nothing improved in those ip phones.

Is it something wrong in the programs in the SD card?

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

I guess there is something wrong with the network. Does the phone show any VLAN information? Is it possible to connect a computer with the same IP address and connect to IPO?

Hi Derfloh,

There was no VL info in IP Phone and no PC used the same up address with the IP phone.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

I suggested to install a PC in the same network like the phones and see if it is able to reach the IPO.

There has been an issue that all 16xx switched to use the same MAC address. Perhaps that's the issue?

Hi Derfloh,

I can connect a PC to the IPO500 within the same network.

Thanks for your suggestions and I will test the up phones in another ipo500 later.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Sounds like you have a network issue. My next step would be to use a small POE switch to bypass the larger network and connect directly to the IPO.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

It's still unclear where the phones actually get stuck, at what message?

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

What is the HTTP server IP set too?
Does the phone get the IP for the call server and HTTP server?
When you manually setup the phone what did you assign for the HTTP server and call server?
Have you tried defaulting the phone(s) and setting it up again from scratch?
Is H323 gatekeeper enabled under LAN1>VOIP?

You should see the phone grab files in monitor IF you have the proper filters setup (needs more then H323 filters to see this). It sounds like either the DHCP is not setup proper and you might not be giving the phone the correct IPs, or something network related causing the phones not to see the IPO, or we are missing some information you are leaving out. The more information you can provide the easier it is for people to help. It should not be like pulling teeth getting info when you are asking us for help...

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

RE: IP Phone 1608 could not register to IPO500v2

Compare the DHCP requests of different phones against the requesting MAC addresses.

If all requests are from the same MAC the phones are bricked.
