Excel 2019 for Mac, Macro buttons in the Ribbon

Excel 2019 for Mac, Macro buttons in the Ribbon

I had a working Excel spreadsheet in Office 2011 but had to move to Office 2019 when Mac dropped 2011 support. My spreadsheet uses macros with about 80 custom macro buttons in the toolbar area. With 2011 the buttons stacked vertically and were all visible in the toolbar area. With Excel 2019 these buttons must be built into the Ribbon as groups. I can't control the position or size of the buttons and they form a long Ribbon that does not all fit on the screen so you must pan the Ribbon right and left to get to the button you want to use. This makes using my spreadsheet so slow that it is really unusable for my application. Is it possible to make the ribbon expand vertically so all of my buttons will be visible without panning?

RE: Excel 2019 for Mac, Macro buttons in the Ribbon

Someone will likely prove me wrong, but I don't think it's possible. Ever since Office 2010 on Windows, I know it's been that way: sure, you can easily customize the ribbon by adding macros to custom groups or tabs, but you cannot control how they look. It basically just figures it out for you. I do know that in Office 2007 (Windows), there were various blogs providing instructions on how to modify the ribbon using XML modifications. If any of that is still possible, you may be able to fix it via that, but I know I haven't seen anything like expanding the ribbon enough to handle vertical buttons anywhere.
