Change Variable value

Change Variable value

Change Variable value

(OP)
Hi

anyone know of a way to update or reset a Variable value automatically or on a schedule? Rather than from within a Vector. So, say if I want to set/reset the value of Variable A to 0 overnight. I know I can do it manually in Variables for Vectors table, and I can set the value in a vector, but any way to do it without direct intervention?

thanks

RE: Change Variable value

I do not believe so

RE: Change Variable value

Perhaps in ASA you can setup a 'change variable' command to run on a schedule to change the value or remove the variable in one command and add it back with another. Not pretty but is the only way I see to make it happen.

RE: Change Variable value

you can program it using OSSI scripting. A tool called bcmsSVR has API to change variable value using REST interface.

RE: Change Variable value

Agree OSSI is likely the best option. But I would just use a quick script to connect to CM nightly and run 'cha var' and set it the desired setting then logout.

Thanks Guys. I've been having a go with OSSI and OSSIMT, have found the field reference and how to change it. Which for reference looks something like:

t
ccha var
f7005ff03
d0
t

OSSI in my Site Admin isn't responsive and doesn't display anything in real time, but if I very carefully enter the above command, field and data then it does work. Must be something in my settings which is preventing it from displaying on screen correctly. Just need to bundle that into a script of some sort now, and if I get that to work then schedule executions of the script. More suggestions welcomed :)

OK, OSSI works better for me if I use putty rather than Avaya Site Admin, then just run autosat from shell

RE: Change Variable value

I usually take scripts like that and plop them on a Linux box like our CMS server and have them execute as a cron job. That server is not doing much else at night so it makes a handy system to run off hours scripts.

Thanks. What do you use to write those scripts? I've seen some PERL examples, so I'm trying to get my head around those
