two instances of Equinox on one PC

two instances of Equinox on one PC

two instances of Equinox on one PC

(OP)
I have a client that uses primary extensions (7xxx)as extensions for all of his users. In addition to these primary extensions, his Call Center agents utilize a secondary extension (8xxx). In order to facilitate these, we have set up the 8xxx extensions as groups with only the 7xxx extension as a member.

They use Equinox as their phone and do not use any handsets.

The client wants to be able to keep users logged into their 7xxx extension, but be able to toggle in and out of their group (8xxx) as needed for breaks, out of office, restroom, whatever.

I think we have two possible solutions:
Two separate instances of Equinox (one for 7xxx and one for 8xxx. (in this case, they would always be logged into 7xxx and come and go from 8xxx as necessary.

OR

Use a shortcode in Equinox to join or leave the group.

Neither of these is very elegant. I don't know if two instances of Equinox is even possible. Nor do I know whether a user is logged in or out of their group in the second scenario.

Any bright ideas?

Later in the year i hear Equinox is supposed to get buttons, but not 100% sure...

RE: two instances of Equinox on one PC

Buttons are apparently on the next release, but that could be within 2 to 12 months in Avaya timeline.

RE: two instances of Equinox on one PC

I dont quite understand why anyone would want multiple groups eah with a single agent
Normaly all agents would be in the same groue & calls routed to the group at whih point a huntgroup enable/disable short code is what is required.
in any Case it would not be able to connect Equinox to a group
This is a "Code Smell" & sugests you should be looking more closly at the operating proedures for am more efficent setup. it sounds like the ustomer is trying to emulate an old system - because that is the way the old system had to be "bodged" to work, They have forgoten how much of a pain this was & not cosidered the fact that the new system may actualy work the way they would have preffered all along!

Thank you for these answers. I agree with all of them. Especially the part about emulating an old system.
