Combo Box not displaying selected value in Grid

I have a combo box in a grid

The combo box displays its value when not focused, but when it has focus, and also when I click the combo to activate the drop list, the value disappears. I just see the backcolor change only, no value in the top display of the combo.
I can make selection in the drop list and this works fine except I do not see the new selection until the combo no longer has focus. Any ideas?

RE: Combo Box not displaying selected value in Grid

Try changing the column's Sparse property to .F.

(Note that's the column's property, not the grid's.)

Edit - it was something to do with having the control source set. Once I removed that the behaviour returned to normal.
