RE: APDL Connection Error

Is this one of those REALLY OLD 4000s where they used the Model 30EP shelves and converted them to the new processor? Like maybe 4K V2 or V3 or something like that? Your slot numbers indicate something along those lines.

RE: APDL Connection Error

(OP)
it is hipath 4000 v4 and l80xf cabinet with ncui card

RE: APDL Connection Error

Hista shows you the NCUI comes in service then crashes.

Did this used to work and now does not, or have you added this and it never worked?
If you added it, is the configuration correct? Are part nunbers correct?
Is the network OK? I see the BAD IP quality message showing change of state but it might not be relevant with the NCUI going up and down.
Is the flash loadware corrupt on the NCUI?
Is the loadware on the NCUI the same as the loadware on the 4K?
Is the whole card crashing or is it just the 4K losing connection (can you browse to the NCUI when it goes off or is the connection interrupted?)

The event log on the NCUI would be useful to see here.

Browse to the NCUI and make sure the loadware on the card is the same as the loadware on the 4K.
To do this, browse to the card and you will see the loadware version in the bottom right info pane. Then compare with the output from "sta-list:":pds:apsp/ltg/lga0/pzknci40",,200,t;"

Download the event log from the NCUI GUI (available under maintenance, traces or something like that).

You could also connect to the NCUI with V24 console and collect event messages that way, you may see the restart reason.

RE: APDL Connection Error

(OP)
First, thank you for your help
yes I recently added it and never work I have another cabinet in the same location and work
and you will find all configuration on the attached file and I try to launch the cabinet early and the processor makes hard reset and you will see hista error in attach file too.

third thing 4K Version loadware is PZKNCI40.06.011-007 AND NCUI Loadware is PZKNCI40.06.010 how I can update ncui card loadware.

thank you for your support and help

RE: APDL Connection Error

That file does not download for me. Can you zip it and repost?

Your NCUI loadware is not too much different, I don't think it's the problem unless reflashing the card will strip out some corruption.

You can update your loadware by 4K Expert Access, Gateway Manager - but only if the shelf is stable. If the card remains up on the LAN even when the shelf is showing down, you can browse to the card and under maintenance, manually load the software, which you can copy off the 4K HD using Comwin-FT. If the shelf is restarting, it might not up long enough to do that.

I think really you need the EVTLOG which is downloadable from card GUI, or if you have a V24 connection (you must have, to configure the NCUI?), you can capture the messages from V24 as the NCUI boots and then restarts.

EVTLOG would be the most useful diags here.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Try DIS-DIMSU:SYSTEM;

And look at the parameter "CGW". It will tell you how many gateway boards are currently in use, and what the maximum is you are currently set up for. If you don't have the system configured to support enough gateway boards it won't work, and you might need to change that value.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Don't think the CGW is needed for NCUI cards Don. You could if you wanted have a 4K host with only one IPDA shelf using an NCUI and no CGW (STMI) boards in sight. Dimsu=0 would be correct there - it would not stop the IPDA coming in service.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Is the 4K actually making a processor restart when the IPDA goes active? Something seems very wrong.

You need to look in the event log - download "evtlog" from the NCUI. If you browse to it, it's under the maintenance menu.

RE: APDL Connection Error

You can see the error/boot messages coming out of the V24 interface in that screenshot. Can you attach the logfile from Comwin connected to NCUI, when the NCUI tries to boot and then fails. Then you won't need to download the evtlog from the GUI.

Your dis-ucsu

Those two addresses should surely be the same, they are the router address for the local network. I can't see why it woulc cause this strange problem but the config does not look correct.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Will it help to do a DIS-BCSU:TBL; for the system. I am noticing what appear to be 2 different boards. The DIS-BCSU would show WBT if the slot isn't configured properly.

RE: APDL Connection Error

I looked at that in the config that was there Don. He does have the -X in the failing shelf but the channels are correctly configured for 60 whereas the other shelf is 120, so it does not look accidental. But in the UCSU etc we can only see what is configured, the V24 output should show what is actually there. You can see a wrong board config in the output/evtlog from the NCUI itself. I have only mentioned it four times already, in every post I made big smile

RE: APDL Connection Error

Driving the NCUI with WBM is not always easy - it is REALLY Whiny about what Java version you have , and what browser you have, etc... I have my browser frozen in time, but I think I still need to have Java6 enabled to access those boards - unless when I update the loadware in a few weeks it fixes that.... Of course accessing the NCUI with the serial port is another fun and exciting way of doing it - but that can be like driving a Cisco switch.... oh so much fun :)

RE: APDL Connection Error

You can see in the V24 output there are errors.

/tffs/ - Errors detected. To correct disk structure, please start check disk with a permission to repair.

Probably textfiles not consistent with HG image!
Maybe inconsistent image installed?

This NCUI needs a reset to factory default and a reflash. There are instructions in this forum somewhere for how to do it.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Use a 9 Way Cable to a COM Port on a PC or use a USB to COM Adapter
Set up the COM Port with the values below.
Once Logged on type in: get write access
then type: show all parameters
Then you can just overwrite those values

38400 8N1NN COM1 TRM/HICOM
get write access
show all parameters
then use ComWin to access and write up new board

TRM Username & Password
On V3 and Previous use the AMO HFAB to setup a password but the default is
Username: TRM
Password: <BLANK>

On V4 and above it is
Username: TRM
Password: HICOM
Setup in the AMO HFAB

By default it is in 'automatic mode'
You can go to Assistant/Expert Mode/Direct WBM/SSH Access (version 6)
In automatic mode, all auto-generated passwords for all accounts are
distributed to the boards periodically. In automatic mode, all
components of the Direct WBM/SSH Access page are greyed out, i.e. they
are disabled and the Assistant sets passwords for all accounts for all
boards automatically. No changes can be made in this page, except
switching to manual mode.
Switching to manual mode, the window items of this page are set active,
i.e. it is possible to add, edit and delete user defined accounts and to
view logfiles.
To switch from manual mode to automatic mode and vice versa:

• Click the Automatic radio button, respectively the Manual radio button.

So you could change it there in the Assistant to 'Manual Mode' and then the passwords can be amended.
You can also (as far as I know) add a user with the same rights as one of the pre-defined roles.

RE: APDL Connection Error

Those instructions above won't reset/default the NCUI board.

This card needs a reformat of the flash file system and the loadware downloading again.

The process to do this is part of Edoku, IP solutions. I thought they were on this forum also but I had a look and sorry, I couldn't see them. Just the boot password. But that's in edoku also.

If you don't have the edoku manual you can download it from the Tonido download site used here. Search for Tonido on this forum to find the address. Then go to Shared/Doc/Openscape 4000 V8/IP Solutions. Download that zip and extract. Open index.htm in a browser and go to Gateways HG3500, 10 How to reset an NCUI board. Follow those instructions exactly, note you format the flash file system but you don't low level format it. Note also the commands are case sensitive. z Z or w W mean different things so don't get that wrong. I know you are Hipath 4000 V4, the NCUI reset process is the same.

Thank you Moriendi for this instruction I did it successfully and now have this error after reflashing the card and restart it.
