450 R1 to R6 Upgrade

450 R1 to R6 Upgrade

450 R1 to R6 Upgrade

(OP)
The doc states to first install BCM450.R100.CFS patch

I do not see that patch alone in my files but I do see it in the actual upgrade software CD.

I just wanted to know will I get 3 options to choose from in Element Manager?
CFS patch
Upgrade Software
R6 image patch

or 2 options..

Upgrade Software
R6 image patch

and it will automatically install CFS patch.

I might be attempting this remotely and double preparing.

My cheat sheet
-Change time zone (if still at factory default)
-Install keycode
-Install CFS patch
-Perform Upgrade R1 to R6
-Install Desktop patch, System patch and maybe other patches
-Test system
-Install R6 Image Patch

RE: 450 R1 to R6 Upgrade

I've done a few BCM 450 R1 to R6 upgrades and I just treated the upgrade in the same way as a BCM 50 R2 to R6 etc. I never heard or used the BCM450.R100.CFS patch first.

Looks like it's the standard 2 options then.

Thanks

RE: 450 R1 to R6 Upgrade

Hello
The CFS patch was needed to some installations if the R1450 was not patched to the level that was needed to upgrade to R6.
So no need to worry. Just run the upgrade as normal point to the directory where you have the upgrade softwate and then it will pickup that is needed.
You will see 2 lines of available software. Fist is the CFS is it is not needed it will show as obsolete if it is needed you have to update the CFS first. Then reboot and run the upgrade procedure again that will show then the r1 to r6 available and just run the upgrade.
I have done it many many times with 100% success.

Regards

Nikos
