Is there an application that can be installed on a desktop to initiate a phone call from an IP phone such as the 9608?
Ideally I could tap in my contacts and click on a number and it would initiate the call from the hardware phone.
It is becoming a hassle to use the built-in directory and editing it is taking too much time.
Am I asking too much for IP Office? Or is there something that exists and I was just unaware of ?

Note that I do not want a softphone where I will use a headset- I want to use the actual phone.

You will need a TAPI connection.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Do you have One-X Portal? You can use the Call Assistant.

Whilst not "Click to Dial" it is "Highlight and Dial" meaning you have to highlight the number and use a keyboard shortcut to initiate the call.

Alternatively there is Communicator for web but this only works in Chrome browser.

ACSS (SME)

Which IP Office release do you have?

Up to R8.1 you could cut and paste a number into Phone Manager or store some contacts.

If you install TAPI you can dial from Outlook or even the Dialer in Windows.

I have 9.0. I do not have the One-X portal.
Is TAPI free?
Also, just to confirm - this will be initiating a call from the handset?

Tapi is included in the rice of the IP office

it controls the handset & can b used by any TAPI aware application (such as microsoft phone dialer or outlook)

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
