Merlin Legend: How to Delete Icm-Ring

Merlin Legend: How to Delete Icm-Ring

(OP)
I'm using a Merlin Legend (Rel 7) in my home with the various MLX sets, and I'd like to delete the Intercom Ring on all sets. I'd like to end up with the Intercom Voice as the last, bottom button, and the one above it blank, so I could assign a feature or a CO line to it. What is the sequence of steps I would need?

Last question, is there a way to delete backup files on the PCMCIA card? I purchased a few cards on ebay, and while they work (I can successfully backup to them), they still have the backups from the previous user. How can I delete these? Or is their a way to reformat the card?

Thanks for helping.

Delete the extra ICOM buttons through Centralized Telephone Programming, then change the last ICOM button from Ring to Voice

Manually back up your system to overwrite the 3 manual slots, configure automatic backups for daily and by Sunday those will also be overwritten.

Hi, thanks for the guidance. I'm stumbling in 2 areas :(
(1) I deleted one of the 2 ICM buttons, however I can't find where/how to change the IC-Ring to IC-Voice on the single intercom appearance. I don't see it in the listed features.
(2) I can't find where I assign the CO lines to specific buttons. On the MLX28 set, I want CO-1 to appear on button 22, CO-2 on button 21, and CO-3 on button 5. I didn't see the option for Page 1 or Page 2 to select the buttons.

Your instructions for the backup worked perfectly!

Thanks again for helping!

RE: Merlin Legend: How to Delete Icm-Ring

To change the button from Ring to Voice, in Centralized Telephone Programming, click on the button and dial *19 (**19 changes it to Ring)

For the line buttons, you have your work cut out for you. When you assign a line to an extension, it will go on "the next available button", but won't overwrite an Intercom/System Access button or another line.

With only one Intercom assigned to button 1, whatever line you assign next will automatically be placed on button 2, the next line you assign will be automatically placed on button 3, and so on.

So what you have to do is assign unused lines to buttons 2 through 21, and then assign Line 1, which will be placed onto button 22.

Delete the line you assigned to button 21 and assign Line 2, delete the line you assigned to button 5 and assign Line 3.

Now delete the lines you assigned to buttons 2 through 4, and 6 through 20

I would recommend you use Lines 40 through 61 as the Placeholders,

Hi, Your solution worked perfect; took a few tries to get the sequence down, glad there is a 'copy' function!

Two last questions...

I was in the programming mode (ext 0), and left for dinner, without exiting. Came back 3 hours later, and the phone was frozen, however all the other phones were normal. I had to restart the system to get ext 0 working again. Is there some timeout? I don't recall reading that anywhere. But I know there are a lot of undocumented 'features', like the plastic post on the carrier that if broken off, won't let the power unit power up! (ran into that problem and searched this forum and found the answer).

Regarding the All Page function. When I programmed this on a button as an inside autodial, I first have to press Intercom, then hit the Page button. Is there a way to have it page directly without first pressing the Icom? The only other option I know of is to connect a Trunk port to a separate paging system.

Your expertise, and more important, willingness to share, is so very much appreciated. Such a rare quality these days. Happy New Year!!

Jim
