Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

(OP)
A client wishes to exclude an ext. from "Direct Extension Transfer" off the Auto-Attendant. Legend 7.15.

RE: Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

Merlin Messaging, or Merlin Mail?
Will the extension still have a mailbox?
Do you want callers in the AA to be denied the transfer, or bypass ringing the phone and going directly to the mailbox?

Merlin Messaging, you can NOT create a mailbox, and NOT give it transfer-only permissions, and the transfer will be denied. Of course there is also no mailbox for the extension.

Merlin Messaging, you can create the mailbox, but set the extension as "Without a Phone", transfers from the AA will go directly to the msilbox. The extension will NOT get a message waiting indication, because there's no reason to try and light a light for an extension that supposedly doesn't exist.

Merlin Mail, mailbox class of service 7 does not allow transfer (like without a phone in Merlin Messaging),

RE: Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

(OP)
Thankyou TT! They have Merlin Messaging.
The Client, recently reconnected an ext. that was disconnected for a time. In doing so, a new 800 number (Private Line), was added to the extension. It was later discovered that the ext. was in the "Customer Service" call group which it was removed from on a subsequent visit. The Operations Mgr., does not want it to be reached via "Direct Ext. Transfer". (unusual request).

RE: Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

Take it out of your cover group 30 (30 is typical, I have seen systems use 1 and 3 before though so verify which you are using).

RE: Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

Taking it out of Cover Group 30 will certainly keep it from receiving voicemail messages when not answered, but will not prevent anyone from dialing its extension number for the automated attendant

RE: Legend> exclude ext. on "Direct Extension Transfer"

My 2 Cents, Give it a different Number. One that's not in the Auto Attendant Numbering plan as DXD. That is, if the Extensions being reached by DXD now all start with 1xx, then number this extension 2xx. (Or, what ever number wouldn't conflict with another code in the AA)

It's just a thought.....
