Custom J179 Ringtone

Custom J179 Ringtone

Custom J179 Ringtone

Hey Guys,

I have an Avaya J179 SIP phone that I am trying to load custom ringtones on. My environment is an Avaya IP500v2 Processor with R11 and a J179 SIP endpoint with FW I have read through the "Installing and Administering Avaya J100 Series IP Phones" documentation on how to program the phone(s) for custom ringtones, but I don't appear to be having any luck with it. I am following page 219 & 220 of the document mentioned above as my reference to get this completed and I have tried a few different ways for the syntax. The syntax that I have used is as follows; RINGTONES "Hawks=HawkSong.wav"; SET RINGTONES "Hawks-HawkSong.wav"; SET RINGTONES "Hawks=tones/HawkSong.wav"; RINGTONES "Hawks=tones/HawkSong.wav". All those sytax's have also been used without quotes as well. All of which have provided 0 results. I am using a WAV file with the following format/settings: Mono, 8-bit, 8kHz and PCM. I tried using the syntax similar to the 96XX's from release 6, but I am not sure if that is still the proper syntax or not... What I am looking for is any help with getting this custom ringtone to work. Thank you in advance for all your help.

RE: Custom J179 Ringtone

try 8khz pcm 16 bit mono instead of 8 bit.

Depending on the URI configuration the ICR can be completely ignored.

If your URI is configured to use internal data then the IP Office will look into the user's SIP tab and if you have *'s it will look into ICR.

A madman with a taste for speed.

RE: Custom J179 Ringtone

I just tried this myself and am having the same trouble. I tried both adding the line as a NoUser source number and to 46xxspecials.txt. Neither of which seem to work. Has anyone managed to get this to work?
