Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I have a 9.1.12 IP Office with Embedded Voicemail. Customer wants callers to dial a selector code, then an Ext. number to go directly into that mailbox. I know & have the dial 0 going directly to the Company's mailbox(no ringing). They are hoping callers can press 8, then whoever's ext. number, in return the caller goes directly to that Ext's mailbox & not ring. Tested everything I can think of with no luck.

So far I told them that they might need a DND button on all the phones & have to turn it on/off when in/out of the office. Caller then just dials the Ext. number like normal.
She then asked if I could turn on/off DND for all Exts. on a time profile (I said no) so they must really want this.

Thanks

RE: Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

Tried transferring to shortcode voicemail collect?

For example extension are 1xx

SC : 1XX
Feature : Voicemail Collect
TN : "#"N

Thanks janni,
I see how that could work, but wouldn't that affect internal calls as well? I'm at Ext. 109 & call Ext. 108 it would go directly to 108's voicemail. This would be the same as setting all the user's No Answer Time to 0 seconds, correct?
The customer asked about shortening the No Answer Time, but I said that would affect the internal calls as well & she didn't like that.

RE: Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

Short code 81XX/Voicemail Collect/"#"1N

In the auto-attendant, set that as the transfer destination for option 8 and ensure that 'Direct Dial by Number' is selected.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

RE: Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

Forward unconditional to a voicemail leave short code and leave internal calls unticked. Then they can turn it on and off with the call forward button as much as they want.

So for extension 100, they would forward to 200, which would be a shortcode of

SC - 2XX
Feature - Voicemail Collect
TN - "#"1N

Sorry, I was sleepy...

You use prefix like sizbut or another extension range like Pepp77.

Thanks for replying sizbit & Pepp,
Sizbit, I can't get your option to work at all, don't know if the newer releases has a "Direct Dial By Number", this release only has "Dial By Number". If maybe that makes a difference?
Pepp, wouldn't that be the same as them having to turn on/off their DND when needed.

RE: Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

You're overthinking this

Quote:

Customer wants callers to dial a selector code, then an Ext. number to go directly into that mailbox.

OK, your initial AA says to reach someone's mailbox, press 4 (example)
4 is "Transfer to AutoAttendant", and it points to a 2nd AA
This 2nd AA says "For Fred, press 1. For Barney, press 2. etc"
Selector Code 1 is "Transfer", the destination is #201
Selector Code 2 is "Transfer", the destination is #202

You've got a short code #2XX / Voicemail Collect / "#"2N

Calls from the automated attendant get directly to the mailbox, internal calls to the 3 digit extension number follow their normal coverage route, ringing at the telephone set and then going to voicemail

Thanks TouchToneTommy,
Already thought about that, but they have like 18 Exts. they want this for. Not enough selector codes for all of them.

What are the extension numbers? Nest the AA's. Lets say 200 through 219.

Main AA, option 2 goes to a 2nd AA. In the 2nd AA, option 0 goes to a 3rd AA, option 1 goes to a 4th AA.
In the 3rd and 4th AA, the options go to #20X or #21X

RE: Caller chooses what mailbox to go to

"don't know if the newer releases has a "Direct Dial By Number" - LOOK ON THE OTHER TAB!

Thanks a million, TouchToneTommy, that works perfect. It was a little bit long for me because I had different Exts. ranging between 101-114 & 201-213, but all works. I also included a dial 8 selector code that is Dial By Number, so internally they know they can still dial 8 + Ext. number & ring that phone
Thanks again
