project portfolio management

(OP)
Hello all,

I have just begun working in the project management sphere and my team is responsible for managing the company's portfolio of projects.

Does anyone know of any portfolio-level dashboard templates out there? We are currently using visio to visually display all the corporate projects across a timeline, but it is an absolute nightmare to update and really doesnt work very well.

I have found alot of "project dashboards" on the web, but have yet to find any that are used from the corporate level. Can anyone help?

thanks!!

RE: project portfolio management

There are several "pay" softwares that are awesome: Planview and HP PPM are the two that I have good experience with.

PPM is the acronym for Project and Portfolio Mgmt, so maybe you can find some inexpensive or free trial software by searching for that term on the web. Another dirty trick that I use is to call/email the major vendors and ask them to explain why their software is better than their competitors, including recent startups. That can trick them into identifying their competition.

Thanks Johnherman,
Yes I used your cheatcode method. Found a website for PPM and I think their templates may help us.

Thank you,
