KX-NT handsets requires restart after vpn drop

Hi folks,

First post here. We have a site with an NS700 and several remote sites that are joined via vpn. There are issues with the broadband at the main site which results in drops in the VPN's. One most of the remote sites, AFAIK, phones come back up themselves. However, on one remote site in particular, the users need to reset the phones as they come into work in the morning to the sight of "LAN disconnect". The VPN is up, they just need to reset the phones. Looks bad, though, from a service point of view, as they should "just work".

Any way of configuring the VPN that you guys are aware of which will encourage the phones to reconnect themselves? does the protocol make a difference here?
VPN's are over Drayteks on each end. Idle timeout set to 0 on the Drayteks as this had previously created problems with the VPNs themselves coming back up.

Thanks for any help received.

RE: KX-NT handsets requires restart after vpn drop

Can I ask why you are using a vpn ?
Is it only phones across the vpn. If so I would use the media relay

Are they the NT 5XX series phones

You should be able to press sp phone then hold a few times to restart the connection

RE: KX-NT handsets requires restart after vpn drop

Thanks for reply.

VPN is used because it was in place anyway for data. I was able to solve this by upgrading the firmware on the Draytek at the remote site.

All good now.
