dealing with an unknown IPO system

(OP)
Hello guys

For those of you who know me from the Nortel forums that I've taken the plunge to move away from the good old world of BCM and CS1000 etc and cause havoc with IPO systems. I've picked up a few of them second hand off FleBay and I have the first one out of the box and powered up OK. It came with an IP address stamped up and I can get a connection and also I have a connection using a serial cable at 38400 Baud to watch the IPO boot up.

Using the Avaya Administration tool after I have mapped my laptop to another IP address on the same range means that I can see it has found the IPO OK, but my problem is that the accounts aren't set to default and therefore I was wondering if there is a method as on the BCM range to reset the accounts.

One of the advantages of the IPO is that you can take out the SD card and I'd like to know what is the easiest option please?.

RE: dealing with an unknown IPO system

Hook up your PC with the serial cable and use PuTTy or similar to connect to the IP Office.
I am not going te rewrite a tutorial here, go to https://pbxbook.com/ipoffice/rstpassw.html and follow the instructions.

ADDENDUM

Always use the security manager to disable/remove unneeded accounts and make your own secure account.

Blooming heck!. I never thought to look at Mikes Cookbooks as I hadn't realised that he covered other systems other than Nortel. That's great advice.

Also thanks for the quick reply back. A star from me.

Whilst on a roll here, I'm planning on replacing my trusted BCM 50 as my main system at home and I currently have one analogue trunk in use as well as plenty of SIP accounts. It looks as if I have to purchase a module to support the lines such as a "Avaya IPO IP500 Combo Card 700476021" module. Is this correct and do I need to purchase any additional keycodes to support it please?.

RE: dealing with an unknown IPO system

You need the combo cards for its VCM resources otherwise you cannot do VoIP at all.
Then you need SIP trunk channels licenses, these are per SIP session and not per trunk.
e.g. you can have as many SIP trunks as you can configure but you can only have as many active SIP calls as you have licenses on any mix of trunks.
