Rule of thumb when dealing with Legend and Magix systems is to power down from left to right and power up from right to left. If you are replacing a bad board with the exact same model you should be ok. It would be wise to execute a Board Renumber to ensure that the processor fully sees and recognizes everything.

I would recommend doing a board renumber. Even if you think they are the same module they might be slightly different and will have issues unless you do a board renumber. You do not need to worry about programming anything again, just a board renumber.

RE: LUCENT MERLIN 408 GS/LS-MLX exangche

If You are replace the bad 408 GS/LS-MLX with another 408 GS/LS-MLX in the exact same slot, You will be okay like Dexman said. Indeed power down from left to right, and power up from right to left.

Andre and Dexam
you instruction to power off are the expand unit( Left ) to the main unit ( Right ) and power up from right expand unit to left main unit.

it is Right?

RE: LUCENT MERLIN 408 GS/LS-MLX exangche

First power down the carrier on the left which contains the processor. Powering up...the left carrier is done last so the processor can see all of the cards to the right.
