Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

(OP)
My client wants to have all extensions and some features available to all extensions. There is a portion in programming that asks for CAP1/KIM1, CAP2/KIM2, etc. Is that where i input the extension numbers with KIM units or does it even matter?
I tried to add a extension appearance on the KIM unit at reception an it wouldn't go on the KIM unit; just said "Autodial" and never worked. I program the extension (actually a hunt group) on to the telephone set and it works perfectly.
Is there something that needs to be done to add a KIM unit to a T7316e set?
Regards

RE: Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

Set needs to be designated as a CAP (Centralized Attendant Position) if you want to assign Lines to them.....max 5 CAPS per system.

RE: Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

"extension appearance"

It's actually "Internal Auto Dial"

You cannot program an Auto Dial for a DN of an HG

I know I can put additional KIM units to a reception set but can I add a unit to 10 sets throughout an office?

RE: Adding KIM units to almost all extensions on system

Yes

6.1 Software required to add KIM's on Norstar

When a KIM on a DN is installed and not assigned in Config as a CAP/KIM it is called an OKIM (Ordinary KIM)
When a KIM on a DN is installed and is assigned in Config as a CAP/KIM it is called an eKIM (Enhanced KIM)

Aside from memory buttons etc it is the eKIM that will also allow for HG keys and Lines to be assigned to it.

You are allowed up to 4 eKIM's on a set, any more added to a set is considered a OKIM
9 KIM's total allowed on a set

On Norstar per Telcodog it would be up to 5 DN's allowed to be assigned as CAP/KIM (eKIM's) - (12 on BCM50)

No limit on adding KIM's as oKIMs (not assigned in programming)

What I do not know:
If you were to program the 5 CAP/KIM DN's to 5 different DN's does that mean the first 4 KIM's on each of those will automatically become en eKIM? <----this is my guess that is true
or
Will you need to program 4 CAP/KIM slots to the same DN....leaving 1 left for 1 eKIM on another DN?
i.e. in config:
CAP/KIM 1: 221
CAP/KIM 2: 221
CAP/KIM 3: 221
CAP/KIM 4: 221

CAP/KIM 5: 22X
