Used AASTRA MX-One

Hi,

I'm a CUCM expert and I want to expand my knowledge in PBX administration. I've decided to teach myself Mitel MX-One.
I've found a used MX One Compact PBX, however, the seller does not have the admin credentials.
Before I commit to buy:
1. Assuming I have physical access to the PBX, is there an easy way to reset the password?
2. How can I get the admin manuals? As opposed to Cisco and Avaya, Mitel site does allow you to download the manuals...

Tnx
Benami

RE: Used AASTRA MX-One

You need the root passsword and you need to check it’s licensed. If not you’re buying a piece of tin of little value,

Not really worthless. Assuming it is a TSE (server based) and not a TSW (MD110) then you can use it to learn on if and it's a big if, you have access to the installation software. After installation, you get an open license for a limited period during which you can use it to learn with. When the license period expires, re-install the software that's how we used to run our training department.

Make sure you can get the installation software before committing to buy.

RE: Used AASTRA MX-One

Why bother? If you can get the installation software just build a VM, you don’t need the box

VM sounds like a good idea. Is there a way to get a virtual appliance for training only purpose?

RE: Used AASTRA MX-One

Hi Benami,
first a little question, are you a Mitel Partner ?
You will also need the documentation for the MX-ONE, called CPI (600Mb)
This can be downloaded from a FTP-Server, but for partners only, as far as I know.
Virtual appliance is also downloadable from this FTP-server.

Norbert

Hi Morbert,

Unfortunately we are currently not a Mitel partner. We develop tools for CUCM and I was given the charter to explore Mitel MX-One as a potential expansion of our offering.
It is petty that Mitel keeps the documentation to partners only. I do not understand the reason. All the major players (Cisco, Avaya, Unify etc.) have the documentation freely available.
This practice render my task as almost undoable.
Any ideas how I can learn more about the platform?

Best,
Benami

RE: Used AASTRA MX-One

Hi,
I think the only one way to get the whished Information is to contact MITEL.

http://www.mitel.com/

On this page you can find the contact for your region.
best regards,
Norbert
