Sharepoint 3.0 update to 2010 and 2013

I am running Sharepoint 2007 and I was wondering is anyone has any helpful information or resources for the process of upgrading to 2010 so I can then go to 2013... (if I am correct, there is no direct path to 2013 from 2007)?

The link I am looking at and considering following is: http://www.vmwareandme.com/2013/10/step-by-step-gu...

Is anyone familiar with this link... or this process itself? Thank you.
