Keyboard Delay

Keyboard Delay

Keyboard Delay

Windows 10 Pro with Anniversary Update
i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Processor
240GB Intel SSD 530
Logitech wireless keyboard

When you are typing, at times there is a one or two second delay before the letters/numbers show up on the screen. Seems to be independent of the application - happens in browsers, Quickbooks, notepad. Other times there is negligible delay. Sometimes letters are lost.

The machine was very fast before the anniversary update but can't confirm that the timing of the typing slowness was with the update. It was originally Windows 8, upgraded to Windows 10 and onto the anniversary update.

I disabled Windows Search service, but that wasn't the problem.
Hard drive shows no problem in SSD Toolbox
Cleaned out temp files with CCleaner

Any ideas??

RE: Keyboard Delay

My first guess would be swap out the keyboard, preferably with a wired one, to rule out the keyboard itself and wireless interference

RE: Keyboard Delay

What AV are you running?

We had customers with MS wireless devices that blue screened the PC with web root running. It was scanning the USB port. They patched it but it was a battle!

RE: Keyboard Delay

Norton 360 and yeah I need to look at the keyboard (battery, position of receiver) and try swapping it. I was too focused on the actual PC yesterday to think about it just being the keyboard!!

RE: Keyboard Delay

So, really simple. The little usb receiver on the end of a dongle was hidden way back behind the computer on the ground. I had asked the user to check it but apparently they checked something different and said it was OK. So, never trust a user to do your job.

RE: Keyboard Delay

Glad you got it sorted out. I was about to say: Location, Location, Location! wink I've seen more than one instance (one being my own personal experience) where adapter vs mouse location is the issue. My instance at home was when I moved everything around, the router ended up too close to the wireless mouse and caused havoc. After moving the router another 6 to 12 inches away, problem solved.
