Can javascript create PDFs from ODT files

Can javascript create PDFs from ODT files

Can javascript create PDFs from ODT files

Can javascript create PDFs from webODF or Libre Office ODT files?

If yes, how is this accomplished?

RE: Can javascript create PDFs from ODT files

Probably not, because javascript is only allowed very limited access for opening files from and saving files to the local hard drive. Though you could probably use viewer.js to open the files in a http:// context, either with a localhost web server or on a remote server.
But if you have the files locally why not just use File -> Export as PDF ... in OpenOffice or LibreOffice

RE: Can javascript create PDFs from ODT files

Hi Chris

Thanks for the thought

We are running WebODF with NodeJS so access to opening and saving ODT files is working.

The purpose of the request is to complete the 3 rd step in Stenographer process
a) step 1: open and ODT file from a list
b) step 2: edit the ODT file (if needed)
c) step 3: convert the ODT file to a PDF and add it to a History list

I am of course hoping to encounter a developer who has converted a document to PDF programatically in javascript!
