Render RDLC Report to be Used as Body of SMTP Email

VS 2008 Windows Forms app with RDLC reports. I have a program that renders PDF reports to files and emails them as attachments using smtp. This works fine. Now I am being asked to make the body of the email the report. These are normally one page reports. I can't get the render to "HTML4.0" to work as I've seen in my internet searches that us this output as the email body. I also tried "HTML 4.0" and "HTML". I can produce the tiff versions of the report using "Image". How do I get the report to render so I can insert into the email body? The users never see this report as it is produced as part of the email process.
