Other doorphone ideas?

Other doorphone ideas?

Other doorphone ideas?

(OP)
Hi everybody:

Well ... after 2 years and a few days, our 2N Helios bit the dust and no longer functions. After dialoging with 2N tech support, they tell me the ethernet module died ... loud audible clicking when the cable is plugged in at the switch. It is, of course, out of warranty, so I'm out of luck. Very disappointed for the amount of money we paid for it.

I'm trying to see if anyone has installed a different brand of doorphone (less expensive!) that works well with the UCx. I found this one, but am not sure if it would work with the UCx.

Has anyone installed some kind of outdoor sip phone that could be used? This unit is the main "doorbell" for one our buildings, so I have to figure out something sooner than later.

Thanks everyone for the help!

thanks for the post, engenius. that looks like a nice unit. I saw those on amazon as well. i'm needing something with PoE, however, as I have no power source close to the door where the unit is mounted, and to get power there would be a nightmare. I think I might try that unit in my earlier post to see if I can get it to work. It's worth a try! :)

RE: Other doorphone ideas?

You don't need power at the doorphone location. You only need it for the controller unit which is usually colocated with the PBX. I use these units all the time and they work perfectly. They connect to an analog port or you can use and FXS gateway

I've also used a Grandstream video doorphone unit but can't recall the model number. It worked really well too and the school I installed at loves it. I'll see if I can look it up.
