Saving Passwords

Mostly in Firefox and Chrome I get a prompt to save passwords. I do not want this prompt to happen however if there is no way to block this I guess it is what it is.

However, when it does prompt me it is picking up a phone number field instead. I read about this online, reordered my fields, etc... but to no avail. Any ideas? This is annoying behavior. Thanks.

Remove the Skype plugin from your browser.

Uncheck "Save passwords" in the browser options/settings

Is there any way to get rid of this programmatically?

RE: Saving Passwords

Are you asking about your local browser settings? Or the browser settings of others viewing web pages that you are serving? I ask because this question originated in the ASP forum

Others viewing the site. I don't even mind that it asks, just that it asks for the correct field. Ideally though, I would like to stop the functionality all together.

Thanks.

Not really, if your documents are using the HTML5 DTD you could add the autocomplete="off" attribute to the form or input open tag which should block password 'pasting' as well.
But other than that access to such setting are from "console only" for the obvious browser security reasons.

Ok, thanks. Site is using HTML5 however autocomplete=off does not seem to be honored is all browsers.

Thanks.

Any idea as to why it keeps asking to save my phone number field instead of my password field?

Forgive my question, but is there a chance that your HTML is not completely valid ? The issue as described by your above quoted sentence reminds me the twisted behaviors caused by non-unique id values.

Hi

Indeed, nothing wrong with the ids there. Well, was just a pale hint.

RE: Saving Passwords

(OP)
I just found this while searching. Looks like an issue with Chrome.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27518606/chrome...

This seems to be the issue however I don't have a user name or email on this form that I have to use. I even tried a hidden field but no luck.

Any ideas?

Swi
