OpenCNAM ...

(OP)
Hi everybody:

Several of my users have noticed that when a call comes to their sets, they'll oftentimes see just a number (8505551212 calling). Every once in awhile we'll get a name and a number but for the most part, we're seeing just numbers. My guess is that they're cellular numbers, and our CO can't pass name information on to us for CID.

I've been reading about OpenCNAM ... is this a service that would possibly provide more names with numbers, or is that not the purpose of the service? From what I read on their web site, it seems that it does what we're looking for, but I thought I'd check and see if there's anyone using it and what their experience has been with it.

Many thanks!

-M

Thanks islandtech, will try to configure and give it a try. I'm guessing I would also have to enable it in the inbound routing for each trunk, correct? Does this service work in place of or in addition to what the CO passes to us? In other words, if we wanted to use CNAM, could we drop our caller id service from the phone company? Thanks everybody!

RE: OpenCNAM ...

Yes, at the bottom of the inbound route form is the Source option. (can be different for each route)
Works with phone company caller id. Caller id is an option with most local providers.
