Hello,

I am wanting to start a project of putting together a VWI or Visual Work Instruction Database that you would be able to write steps on how to perform a job safely and its hazards and tools needed on each step along with an image if available OR a video if possible on some steps besides an image.
Maybe Ms Access isn’t the way to go and I shoud try some other software I dont know? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated….

Thoughts?

Thanks,
SoggyCashew.....

How many will be using this at one time?

I'd never put videos or other large binaries into a database, so keep these separate. All you need in a database itself is some meta data about the work instructions. Sounds like something you could put into a static intranet site.

What functionalities are needed? Searching for a certain topic, I assume. So you'd put some meta keyword tags into each page and let a site search do its job, eg Lucene.

What else?

If you now throw your hands up in horror you may think about giving more info about what this is about. I'm not at all familiar with work instruction databases, only with databases, and that is the least part of what you need.

Bye, Olaf.
