cannot open device hd(40)/boot
stage 1 boot failure: error loading hd(40)/boot

what to do?

I would suggest replacing the hard drive.

need to retrieve information from two discs, how can I do?

In order of increasing cost:


Plug the drive into a different machine (or a USB caddy) see if it reads there.


Buy some data recovery software.


Send it to a data recovery specialist.
