We're in trouble, US Congress is getting involved with IoT. Next they'll want to tax it.

RE: Senators to push privacy, security legislation for IoT

how silly.

data protection/privacy is an trans-national issue. the proliferation of Statutes and rules that we have over the world at the moment is overbearing and unhelpful to businesses; and doesn't really afford the consumer any protection as they have no (easy) recourse against malfeasors outside of their jurisdiction.

The way forward is a pan-global response at the legislative level and technical solutions (where possible) build into the fabric of the protocols.

But before that is viable we need collectively to take a deep breath and back away from the fear of others having information about us. Distil it down to what might be genuinely problematic. and then act at that level.

Are you calling our US Congress silly? How dare you speak the truth! Everyone knows the opposite of Pro is Con, so the opposite of Progress is Congress.
