How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

(OP)
Hello all, I hope this is the right place to get help as I'm at the end of my rope on this one.

I am the 'IT' guy for my company and we have a Vodavi STS phone system with a voicemail in it. I have been tasked with trying to get into it to change some mailboxes around since people have left the company. Everything I am finding online says the default password to connect to the system should be '0000' but that isn't working.

Is there another master password or a way to reset or default the entire vocemail so I can access it again? I have been struggling with this for days and am about to go crazy.

RE: How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

Do you know which voicemail it has? STS supports two different units. Also - are you accessing via touch tone interface, or via serial?

It's the flash version of the voicemail. not the hard drive. And I have been in through a phone and through hyper terminal. Since posting I found out how to get in via the phone by dialing into mailbox 15-00 and using the password '9#56' but that does not give me the same options I don't think because there is no 'default' option that I could find in the menus. The notes I have say I want option 8 from the hyper terminal menu and to run that 3-4 times to ensure everything is cleared out.

RE: How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

Some functions cannot be changed via DTMF menu. Serial interface allows access to just about everything except recording prompts.
If you can access from the 9#.. function, it will allow you to reset any other menus. Good part is that the manual is fairly complete, and provides just about anything you'd want.

RE: How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

I have a similar problem, the default password for in-skin does not allow access, but ours is the hard drive voice mail version. We needed to replace the KSU (mainboard failure), and have begun the re-programming. No system backup was provided by the installer - he is not out of business - and we have been unable to locate an installer with vodavi programming experience (several have been willing to "learn on our dime" however, this is not an acceptable solution). I have an extensive background in IT and programming, but I am not familiar with the vodavi terminology. I do have the manuals and have made progress in getting the system up and running including 20 stations, a door box, 3 CO line groups, etc. . Now I want to address the finer points. Any assistance with resolving the issue with in-skin access would be appreciated.

RE: How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

Have you carefully reviewed the installer manual? Most installers don't change the default code. Have you tried via both dtmf and serial? Does unit answer at all? In theory, the voicemail will be the same as before your KSU issue - since it's fully contained. If it doesn't answer, then either the KSU isn't programmed correctly or the VM may separately have an issue.

RE: How do you change admin password on an STS voicemail?

I have the "install" manual and the Program & Operation manual. It appears that the voice mail still exist, but I need to connect each station to their mailbox, and make the inbound call go to voicemail after x rings if not picked up.

The InSkin Admin software is installed and there is a valid serial (RS232) connection to the KSU. I have completed the card programming via the "serial" connection using the terminal program.

There are two (2) users shown in the login box (of InSkin Admin), but when I enter the default password (0000)I am getting an error message.

I have attempted to program via the keyset (dtmf) using the "flexkeys", and I believe that it goes to the mailbox when pressed however, the inbound calls do not go to voice mail.

That's all done in phone system Flash 50

If you can access VM Card via serial, you can reset passcodes via serial. However, if card was good, no programming should have been required.

Cheers!
