Hotfix package not installing

Hotfix package not installing

(OP)
Hi,

I'm using Project Standard 2013. I had one of my projects set to the resource usage view, but discovered that some of the task dates changed when I tried to print it, and did not follow the non-working time set in the project calendar (working days Mon - Fri, with a holiday set for Mon 23rd Dec '13 - Fri 3rd Jan '14). For example, one task had a 10 day duration, and was set to start on Mon 16th Dec; with the holiday this had a finish date of Fri 10th Jan. When I printed it out, it was shown as starting on Sat 28th Dec and finishing on Wed 22nd Jan.

I did a bit of research, and it looks like this problem was addressed with the April 2013 hotfix package. I downloaded the hotfix (64 bit), but when I tried to install it I got the error message "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system".

Can anyone help? The version of Project I have is 15.0.4481.1510 MSO (15.0.4481.1510).

Thanks.

I tried installing the December update, and got the same message again. Am I just missing something?

RE: Hotfix package not installing

Are you running the 64 bit version of Project? If you are running the 32 bit, you need to download the 32 bit hotfix.

Damn, I thought for a minute my problems were solved! I'd checked on the Microsoft support site, and their automatic detection software said I was running a 64 bit operating system, so I downloaded the 64 bit hotfix. But I've just double checked, and it's the 32 bit version of Project I have. So I downloaded the 32 bit hotfix, expecting it to work - but still get the same error message.

RE: Hotfix package not installing

The only time I see that message is if I have already applied the hotfix. What do you see if you check your installed updates through Control Panel?

RE: Hotfix package not installing

I've had a look at the installed updates, and don't see either the April or December one. Presumably if they were installed the dates shouldn't still be moving though?

RE: Hotfix package not installing

If they don't show in the installed updates, it doesn't appear to be installed. I assuming you have administrator rights?

RE: Hotfix package not installing

(OP)
Yes, I'm set up as an administrator.

RE: Hotfix package not installing

I'm baffled. Are you able to install other updates or are they disabled through some sort of group policy? I have worked with clients who disable the download of hotfixes because they need to be vetted through IS, but usually administrator rights can still install. Do you have an IS or IT group you can check with?

RE: Hotfix package not installing

This is the first time I've tried to install any updates. I checked with someone from our IT department before I downloaded it and they didn't mention that it wouldn't install - I might check with someone else though, just to be sure! And, of course, the manager for this project is desperate to get this....

RE: Hotfix package not installing

Of course...... smile I would confirm that you have the ability to download and install. Or, better yet - ask them to install it.

I'll let you know how I get on! In the meantime, thanks for your help.

RE: Hotfix package not installing

Great, keep us posted smile

RE: Hotfix package not installing

If you have 32-bit here is the link

If you have 64-bit here is the link

Thanks, I've tried the link but am still getting the same error message. I've spoken to my IT department about it and am waiting for them to get back to me.

RE: Hotfix package not installing

Just thought I'd post a quick update... After weeks of waiting for my IT department to look into this, I opened the document back up this morning - to find that the problem isn't happening any more. Not sure why not, unless there's been an automatic update since January that's fixed it, but at least it's sorted. Fingers crossed it doesn't suddenly start happening again!

RE: Hotfix package not installing

Thanks for the update and glad to know the computer fixing elves have set things right.
