Project Management Outsourcing Articles?

Project Management Outsourcing Articles?

Project Management Outsourcing Articles?

This probably isn't the typical question/query posted here!................I am in the middle of studying for a Masters.............one of my courses is Information Systems Project Management.

For an assignment, to discuss the 'disadvantages of outsourcing project management', I am looking for links to some articles which may discuss this topic, I need to do a lot of background reading before I can start my assignment.

Anyone willing to help?

Thanks in advance.

I can recommend searching some of the PM sites. See http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=7644

RE: Project Management Outsourcing Articles?

While this isn't a resource per say, here are 10 things that you might want to think about:

1) What is the scope of a project?
2) What type of field is it in? (manufacturing, IT, other)
3) Is face to face time important? Would gathering everyone involved in the project into a meeting make sense?
4) What is the timeline length for the project? If it is a short project, is it a financially viable solution to out source?
5) How dynamic is the project? Do task assignments change frequently or are they relatively stable?
6) Where is the out source located? Is there a major time difference?
7) Is there a language barrier between you and the project manager?
8) Is project security an issue? Do you need to keep what is being worked on confidential?
9) Cost of the project manager. Is the consulting fee higher than a salary or hourly person?
10) How do you locate the project manager and are they reliable? Do they have a good reputation?

I hope this helps,
