Mail Merge with Word

is it possible to use mail merge with microsoft word and crystal? or should the crystal report be designed like the letter?

RE: Mail Merge with Word

I would design the report like the letter. I have done this successfully a number of times - including simulating the letterhead in the report so that we didn't have to worry about changing paper trays on the printer (which can't be done in Crystal...)

RE: Mail Merge with Word

One of the 3rd-party Desktop Crystal Reports Schedulers (see list at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html) allows you to do a bursting "mail merge" of Crystal Report data into a MS Word document acting as a template.

Each group in the Crystal report is used to fill data into place holders within the template document, which can then be saved and emailed using dynamic (based on Crystal fields/formulas) file name & email options.

This is useful in cases where the end result needs to be editable as a MS Word document (for example, used as a basis for a legal document). Otherwise, it is simpler to design the document in Crystal.

view, export, burst, email, and schedule Crystal Reports.
