"Appear" but not ring

Is there any way have a line (SLA) appear on a phone, similar to "appear only" on the Norstar? Want it flash but not ring and be able to press the button to answer. A bonus would to be able to see caller ID before answering ;o

RE: "Appear" but not ring

We don't actually support the Shared Line Appearance (SLA) feature on the BCM, although we have a similar feature we refer to as Shared Call Appearance. To have an SCA key appear on a phone without it ringing, you simply exclude it from the ring group for the SCA calls. One caveat is that you cannot answer a ringing SCA key if you are not in the ring group. You can however, pick up a held SCA call if someone else answers it and places it on hold.

The scenario might be where you have one person (the receptionist) answering all the calls, but everyone wants to have the lines appear on their phones. So the receptionist answers the call and placers it on hold, then pages that their is a call on line two. Anyone with an SCA key on their phone can then pick up the call, put it back on hold, transfer it, etc.

Ok what would be the best way to have the reception phones all ring and have anyone else be able to see and answer those calls? Is there anyway they could see who is calling without picking it up (like feature 811)?

RE: "Appear" but not ring

Use the Group pickup feature. Put the reception phones in their own ring group, and program them with the SCA keys. all the other phones need the Sca keys programmed but no ring group. Put all the phones that you want to be able to pickup calls including the Reception phones in one pickup group. For this to work you will need to set all the phones in one call group also. Now when a call comes into the inbound route marked as an Sca route, it will be directed to the ring group. The reception phones will alert, but on the other phones the keys will only flash. From any other phone go offhook and dial the group pickup feature code Feature 75 (or *8).

We do not currently Support feature 811 (Norstar/BCM Call information)
