Ok

So I've got to October next year on my CCNA and as I haven't used it once since I took it, I'm a telephone tech who didn't want to get left behind. I am struggling to justify the time I will have to spend away from my family to study if I want to re qualify. I did look into doing the voice qualifications but with respect it goes into more depth than is justifiable for the level of qualification (not that I don't think I could pass it but I have better things to do with my time than study robbed bit signalling and the like)! Which leaves me back at the question of whether to bother requalifying!

Opinions welcomed (feel free not to pull your punches)!

RE: Ok So I've got to October next y

Hi,

It would be a shame to waste the effort you went through to get your CCNA. If I was in your shoes, could you not attempt a professional level Voice exam? One in the CCVP path, that should be relavent to your current job + will renew your CCNA for 3 years.

I do know where your coming from, I have a wife + two kids and just started my CCIE studies, I spend a good balanced amount of time between the both and study when I can. My priorities are my family, but CCIE is second. If I dont put in enough time to pass the CCIE, it puts me in a good position to recertify at a Professional level + gained valuable knowledge in my CCIE studies.

Thats my pennys worth anyhow, good luck.

Lee.

Myself, I have the original NA before it split into 2 tests (2006), NA Security, NP (2006) and a Cisco Express Foundation Field whatever cert...I am a security dude, so I recert everything with the IE Security written. This next time around I plan to actually take the lab, but just sayin---just another thought. Depending on how you want to expand your career, I also like Lee's advice.
