Table cell formula error messages

Table cell formula error messages

Table cell formula error messages

WP :

1. Table formula error messages are quite useless, seeing that they make a statement but give absolutely no information about how to resolve/correct the error -- at least that I've found.

2. Error message: "Value Expected". So what does that mean? And where does one go to find a resolution?

3. Issue: Have a currency column; want to total a range of cells (F2:F15) and subtract from a previous cell (F1). The only way I can get any calculation is: SUM((F2:F15),-F1) ... say (F1) is $1000.00 and (F2:F15) total $300.00. But what returns is a negative (-$700.00) when it should be positive. I've tried writing the formula every other whichway I know (which is, obviously, not a broad knowledge (!)) but everything else I try brings up the "Value Expected" error message.

Any corrections, suggestions, etc., anyone can offer. Much appreciated.
