Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

(OP)
UCx provides a very useful feature on Nortel IP phones that is not mentioned in the documentation - a list of all available features.

To display the list, simply press the Services button on your IP phone (the button with the globe). You can then scroll through the feature list using navigation keys and once you locate a feature you are looking for, press the Invoke softkey. In other words, if you use a Nortel IP phone and the Feature key is disabled (or if you occassionally forget a BCM/Norstar feature code), the Services button is your best friend.

RE: Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

What you will need to do in future is start tips in the FAQ's section since it is permanent where these posts will get buried soon.
Be very careful of category names, spelling and which category you post your FAQ as it cannot be changed later.
Use simple and to the point names.

Example - For above to posts I started 1 new category since both are feature related called User Features then created 2 FAQ's under that category.

New Category Name was = User Features
New FAQ's were
-How to activate a feature
-List of all user features

Once you create a category it will be a choice for any future FAQ's if needed.

For other Category suggestion see other forums FAQ's pages to get an idea.

That is my tip of the day!

RE: Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

(OP)
Thanks curlycord! I learned something new today. Believe it or not, but I never really noticed the FAQs button (and logically never looked at FAQ's on any of the forums).

RE: Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

(OP)
As a side note, the list of features above includes only "idle state" features (that is features that make sense when there is no active call). UCx also supports various call related features (such as park, transfer, conference, transfer to voicemail, enable/disable recording). Your "List of all user features" should probably include those, too.

RE: Tip #1: The feature list - undocumented but a very useful feature

Thanks curlycord,
both for your efforts in getting this forum started and second for the advice. We will follow the rules and take direction as needed.

Sincerely,
Patrick
