P1102w uninstalls printer drivers every time it is disconnected, turned off, or goes to sleep
P1102w uninstalls printer drivers every time it is disconnected, turned off, or goes to sleep
(OP)
It appears the drivers are uninstalled when printer is offline, then re-installs when it comes back online. End users do NOT have permission to install, therefore, I get a permissions error when the end user tries to print. It says the user does not have permission to install the printer. I am tired of re-installing the printer over and over and over again as an administrator. How do I keep this printer from uninstalling itself every time it goes offline? Very annoying....

It is locally connected to the users machine. We are running Windows XP. I have tried the HP Laserjet full feature software and driver and the basic driver. If you turn the printer off and turn it back on a message will pop up saying that you must be an admin to install this software. The printer is still in printers but it appears offline. If I log in as an administrator and turn the printer off and turn it back on it installs just fine. If the user turns the computer off, restarts, or the computer or printer goes to sleep, or either is turned off, the user cannot reconnect to their printer because of permissions issues. It wants admin rights to install the software. The software is already installed. Its like the software is uninstalled everytime there is a disconnect between the printer and the computer. We already tried to add admin rights to the system root: %systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 and C:\Program Files\HP and that did not work.

How are you installing the driver? Off the disc that it came with, via a download, installing manually from the Device Manager, etc? To make sure there is no issue with the software packaged with the driver, I would try a manual install via the Device Manager and a DLed version of the driver off their website. If this is happening with every user on multiple machines, it has to be the driver not taking hold. Every printer Ive set up on a machine with restricted User rights, Ive never had an issue similar which to me leads to the driver.
